● Hospitality company to leverage Krypton, its in-house mobile based app for this exercise.

● More than 2,000 dormitories in the kingdom are expected to be compliant by the end of 2021

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA-: OYO Hotels & Homes have been qualified by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipality, Rural Affairs and Housing (MMRAH) to assure dormitories comply with set standards in the kingdom.

This strategic appointment, effective immediately, will see OYO leverage Krypton, the hospitality company’s in-house mobile-based audit app to assure dormitories across the Kingdom comply with the standards set and provide guidelines for safe and quality living spaces to companies facilitating dormitories for their employees in Saudi Arabia. This follows the ratification of the Technical, Health and Safety guidelines in early 2021 requiring businesses operating in Saudi Arabia to have licenses tied to strict technical, health, and safety guidelines when facilitating group housing for Individuals.

Thanking MMRAH and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their trust and confidence in OYO, Bader Saidan, Head, Saudi Arabia at OYO said the hospitality company’s appointment is another giant leap in the progress the young start-up has made in innovating the hospitality space in Saudi Arabia.

He adds, “We are inspired by the dynamism and innovation that’s happening in Saudi Arabia. OYO’s process and practices are driven by technology and operational excellence which will bring synergy to the entire process. We have appointed qualified professionals who will conduct the audits based on municipality guidelines and certify these dormitories so that it meets the parameters and guidelines by MMRAH.

“With Krypton, we are now able to innovate the entire process and work with MMRAH and other businesses in the kingdom to bring OYO’s standard of quality living spaces to dormitories across Saudi Arabia”, concludes Bader.

Welcoming innovation and the active involvement of the private sector in the development of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Majid Al-Hogail, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Municipality and Rural Affairs said the collaboration with OYO to improve health and safety at dormitories in Saudi Arabia marks a significant milestone for the ministry in its mandate to raise overall standards at these living spaces in the kingdom and position Saudi Arabia as the center of business and innovation for the Middle East.

“Under the Saudi Vision 2030 transformational plan, collaboration with organisations like OYO are crucial to change how the government operates. A key aspect of this is to change the role of the government from an implementer to a regulator and encourage more private sector involvement in the innovation of the Kingdom” concludes H.E. Majid Al-Hogail. At present OYO Hotels & Homes account for 18,000+rooms in 200+ hotels across 22 cities and provinces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The hospitality chain has also hosted over 50+ nationalities across its properties in the country since its launch in January 2019.
