Styled best with a shopping spree, Dubai’s favourite modern Indian bistro launches a new mix and match weekend lunch menu full of spiced surprises
The talented chefs at Farzi Café have been at it again this February, creating a brand-new weekend lunch menu full of dishes inspired by the Indian English tradition of ‘tiffin’ or mid-morning meal introduced in the Indian subcontinent in the 1800s. Serving up a fresh #Farzified reinterpretation of tiffin – weekends just got a lot more interesting.
Kicking off on 19th February from 1pm to 5pm, and available every Friday and Saturday at both Farzi Café venues at City Walk and Mall of Emirates, tiffin is best served after a morning working up an appetite shopping with friends and family. Taking guests on a whistle stop tour of modern Indian tastes, with the occasional joy ride through Europe, each dish offers a tasty chance for city residents to sample something different. Priced at a highly competitive AED 129 per person, the alcohol-free weekend menu is broken down into a choice of five sharing plates, one bun or burger, two sides, one dessert and two Banta sodas or Karak chai.
Sharing dishes such as cooling pomelo and melon chaat with frozen berry yoghurt French toast #Farzified with masala and served with desi baked beans and Oman chips add maximum drama; while a cumin-spiced khari pizza with “Tak A Tak” paneer and fresh crisp tempura prawns with kumquat chilli air, spicy mayo will have everyone talking. Meat-lovers will go wild for flavour-filled kebabs made with minced mutton served with a tamatar chutney and a wagyu beef masala hash mash with cheese bread and tomatoes.
Not to be overlooked, the Bao Pao section has some serious stand outs including the veg-tastic Tiffin potato burger and fluffy bao bun stuffed with sunrise red butter chicken. While sides such as oozing mac n’ cheese and masala fries keep things ‘extra’.
The best advice we can give? Save room for dessert. From the ‘Chocolate Dirt Pile’ – a deconstructed chocolate cake dripping with ice cream and molten chocolate to feather light saffron makhan malai with a candied nut crumble and the #Farzified berry pancakes with aerated milk cream and spice infused compote – choosing just one is going to be the toughest task of the weekend.
Corporate Executive Chef Saurabh Udinia says; “Creating a weekend lunch menu which stands out in a saturated market was a fun challenge for the team. Starting with the tradition of a tiffin or mid-morning meal, we looked all over the world for inspiration, from comforting Indian dishes remembered from childhood to flavours of the Far East.”
The tiffin inspired weekend menu will be available at both Farzi Café locations in City Walk and Mall of Emirates on Friday and Saturdays 1pm – 5pm from February 19th 2021
