A GUIDE TO CELEBRATING IRELAND’S NATIONAL DAY IN THE UAE |
UAE, Dubai –: 17th March marks Ireland’s National Day, a day to celebrate the Irish culture with worldwide festivities taking place featuring parades, music, dancing, feasting and a whole lot of green. Many of the usual celebrations will once again be put on hold this year, but that doesn’t mean the day still can’t be commemorated with spectacular sights, good food and plenty of merriment.
Tourism Ireland has rounded up just a few ways to honour the day here in the UAE:
Celebrate at The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah:
Visit The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah to see a very special Irish Riverdance show at The Palm Fountain – the largest fountain in the world. Watch as the sea and sky lights up in green while the fountains dance to classic Riverdance songs from the traditional Irish theatrical show. The special edition fountain performance will be taking place on Wednesday 17th March starting at 7:00pm (GST) which will run every hour on the hour. Make a reservation at one of the many restaurants which overlook the waterfront for guaranteed front row seats, delicious bites and a spectacular show. The Riverdance show at The Palm Fountain is free to attend.
Party at Home:
As travel to Ireland for National Day isn’t an option this year, Ireland is bringing the National Day to you! Join in with the evening’s celebrations with a virtual live stream from three iconic venues, Johnnie Fox in Dublin, Duke of York in Belfast and Dick Mack’s in Dingle, County Kerry. All are well-known for traditional Irish music and dancing and National Day will be no exception as each will be filling your homes with live music, Irish dancing, special guests and a few extra surprises. The fun-packed festival will kick off with The Celtic Drummers with the Shamrock Tenors and a Riverdance – The Academy show taking center stage throughout. A Taste of Ireland:
Experience a taste of Ireland in the UAE by sampling local produce and quality ingredients hailing from the island by Bord Bia (the Irish Food Board). Available in stores such as selected Spinneys, Waitrose, Carrefour and on Kibsons, those celebrating National Day can tuck into some traditional treats, meats, cheeses and more and enjoy the true taste of Ireland from the comfort of their own kitchen. With all Irish products, foodies can be safe in the knowledge that its high quality, has an exceptional taste and is produced to world leading standards.
Step into Ireland:
Head to Irish Village, McGettigans and Fiber Magee’s to try Ireland inspired cuisine and beverages in a setting that harks back to the Ireland of island. To celebrate Ireland National Day, each restaurant will be offering a range of food and beverage deals throughout the week and over the weekend. Reservations are recommended.
