RIYADH — It might not have crossed Ghadeer and Ruba Al-Attishan’s minds that their childhood memories would provide the spark to their entrepreneurial spirit. But invariably their association with the Tamis bread and the memories of the staple proved to be a winning bread and butter scenario for them.
They turned their association with the Tamis bread to a profit-generating investment project through the establishment of Tamisa restaurant, a popular meals restaurant in Riyadh, which takes its guests on a journey that combines the glorious past with the authenticity of the present.
Their passion for Saudi cuisine and their unique way of tasting, as well as their desire to demonstrate the authenticity of the hospitable Saudi people, led them to think about how to invest those capabilities and turn them into a project, which two years ago led them to establish the popular meals restaurant Tamisa.
The recent launch of the Ministry of Tourism’s campaign (Your Future is Tourism) was a morale boost for them as investors, as well as an incentive for Saudi men and women to invest in the restaurant and tourism sector while boosting their confidence and enhancing their social heritage.
“Your Future is Tourism campaign broke the ice for Saudis to work in the tourism sector, giving them self-confidence and encouraging them to apply for 100,000 jobs during this year, and highlighting the authenticity of the generous Saudi people by welcoming guests,” Ghadeer said.
Their story went through three stages to before establishing their restaurant that mixed two different eras. Ghadeer said, “My father encouraged us to cook and taste by holding a competition between us. The first stage was to make meals in our house in Riyadh, and then give them to family and friends at special events.
“We went on in this fashion for about two years, before coming up with the third stage through the food truck project, and after a successful food project that had distinction, we established the restaurant.”
Ruba said paying attention to the details is one of the factors that have contributed to our success story. Attention to simple things like decor, furniture, staff uniform, and even the menu, which has given the place creative touches.
Ghadeer and Ruba recommend young men and women to take advantage of Your Future is Tourism campaign, and apply for jobs and gain experience, stressing that with patience and perseverance, everyone can reach his ambition.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Tourism launched Your Future is Tourism campaign, as part of its strategy for developing human capital, which aims to develop the capabilities of male and female national cadres through various training and qualification programs, and provide them with job skills that support them to get their suitable job.
