Dubai, United Arab Emirates, – : Park Hyatt opened its second properties in Japan in Kyoto, after Park Hyatt Tokyo which opened in 1994. The hotel is located in the Higashiyama hills, in the district less than 1.5 km from the Kyoto station where many iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites exists. The property is two-storied and four-story underground, houses 70 guestrooms with 9 suites, most of the rooms can enjoy the perspectives of iconic Yasaka Pagoda. The hotel’s design and construction incorporates traditional Japanese design architecture and artisanal craftmanship.
Several historic buildings including an Edo-era teahouse, as well as the Japanese garden that is central to the site, have been preserved and carefully restored.
What’s unique about this property is the hotel is built in the property of a long-established culinary institution Kyoyamato, founded in Osaka 1877 and moved to Kyoto post war 1949. There are historical sites such as a private house used as a secret gathering point of warlords of Revere the Emperor group or a historical tea ceremony room both from Edo period. Those are preserved and carefully restored upon the opening of the hotel.
