Taking place through July and August, the workshops will be led by Teible’s Executive Chef Carlos Frunze and Executive Pastry Chef Sheerin Ghaffar.

Farm-to-table restaurant, Teible, located at Jameel Arts Centre has revealed that it will host a series of culinary workshops during summer for budding chefs and eager home cooks looking to learn new skills in the kitchen.

Priding itself on a no-waste, locally sourced approach, Teible’s kitchen ensures all ingredients are used to their full potential through use of fermentation, pickling and preserving, and drawing inspiration from this, Executive Chef Carlos Frunze will be hosting a ‘kimchi fermentation class’ on July 5 from 12pm to 5pm.

The interactive workshop is priced at AED 700 per person and invites guests to come and learn the steps of fermenting kimchi using non-traditional ingredients such as Napa cabbage, Chef Carlos will guide participants through the history of kimchi and developing new recipes for this region, all while explaining the science of fermentation and allowing taste testing.

On July 19 from 12pm to 4pm, Executive Pastry Chef Sheerin Ghaffar invites guests to enjoy a ‘gelato and sorbet class’, which will guide participants on how to create refreshing iced treats using local and regional ingredients to see them through the summer months. The fun and interactive class is priced at AED 550 per person and will showcase the beauty of ingredients through making of gelato and sorbet. Chef Sheerin will use fresh dairy sourced from local farms as well as regionally sourced fruits, to show participants how to create these cooling sweet treats at home.

Chef Carlos returns with a ‘shio koji class’ on August 2 from 12pm – 3pm. Priced at AED 650 per participant, this hands-on workshop will allow guests to learn how to create their own shio koji and explore uses of the ingredient, including how to ferment koji bacteria and create umami amino sauce, as well as how to create dishes, sauces and marinades with the ingredient, and lastly a look at the aging of the proteins.
