Dubai-: Joonam, operated by Guru Concepts, will be unveiled this month at The Pointe, Dubai. Inspired by Iranian values and tradition with a tantalizing menu paying homage to enticing Persian flavours, Joonam is a welcoming dining concept perfect for friends and family alike.
Meaning ‘my dear’ in Persian, Joonam is a concept that puts conviviality at the centre of the dining experience. Delectable dishes are created with love and attention, inviting guests to taste the comforting flavours of a culture that embraces modernity while simultaneously embracing century-old traditions.
A true embodiment of Persian values and tradition, Joonam is set to become one of the city’s most sought-after spaces to share a meal in an inviting setting with breathtaking sea-views. Elegant interiors in muted shades of blue and taupe evoke a sense of balance and tranquility, allowing guests to slow down and appreciate the ‘now’. The menu at Joonam is a delectable representation of the Persian food philosophy; centered around sharing dishes, as is customary in Iran. The menu is fragrant, diverse and refined with a delicate balance of flavours, presented beautifully. Iranian Head Chef, Fereidoun Maleki has created dishes imbued with traditional spices and herbs including saffron, barberries, and tarragon evoking the rich heritage of Iran while simultaneously drawing influence from across the world.
The menu features timeless yet traditional cooking styles such as meat grilled over an open charcoal fire served on the iconic skewer, and braised slow-cooked stews left to simmer over a lazy flame for hours to capture the authentic essence and aroma of a true Persian kitchen. The alluring menu is curated by Iranian Head, Chef Fereidoun Maleki, and it includes classic appetizers such as ‘Soup-E-Jow’ – a rich barley chicken soup topped with coriander and ‘Zeytoon Parvardeh’ a delicious dip with marinated green olives, crushed walnuts, and pomegranate syrup. Diners will also delight in a selection of hot starters including ‘Kufteh Tabreezi’; slow-cooked meatballs with herbs, lentils, dried apricots, and walnuts. Delightful main courses include grills, stews, and a selection of signature dishes. Highlights include ‘Kabab Sheeshlik’ with hand-cut, spring lamb chops marinated in saffron, onion, and ground black pepper, and ’Baghali ’; a chicken casserole in tomato gravy served with barberry saffron rice. Ending the experience on a sumptuously sweet high, diners can delight in mouth-watering desserts including ‘Falude-Ye Shirazi’– Shirazi vermicelli sorbet sprinkled with rosewater or ‘Chai Zafferani Ba Nabat’ – Persian saffron tea served with saffron sugar candy and herbs.
