Dubai, UAE: Tango is not just a dance form but an emotion. It is sensuous, romantic, and full of energy; with La Casa del Tango, it’s a slice of Argentina right here in the sun-kissed skylines of Dubai.
The man bringing the true spirit of La Boca to the heart of DIFC, is famous Tango dancer Enrique Macana. His vision, La Casa del Tango is a first-of-its-kind experience for the region that combines Tango dance shows with a restaurant and bar setting, along with a supporting dance studio and fashion boutique. Dressed in warm leathers and elite décor, the chic venue serves up authentic Argentinian cuisine and drinks which is accompanied by Tango shows and music curated by the creator himself.
Opening the doors to welcome fans of Tango, Enrique Macana said ; “I’ve always felt that Tango has never been truly accessible for people across the world. It’s not just the moves but also the dressing and accessories that complete the experience. For me, to bring an authentic showcase with genuine threads of our cultural heritage to the Middle East is very exciting. With La Casa del Tango, I endeavour to serve Argentina, its ethos and emotion beyond the plate.”
The menu has been created by renowned Head Chef Jorge Rivero. The Master Asador has created a bespoke, hand built “domo” in the kitchen – the first of its kind in the Middle East – which is visible for guests in the dining room. The “domo” method is a modern way of slow cooking meat with wood fire for added smoke flavour and tenderness. Signature dishes include the chorizo parrillero con provolone (grilled Argentinean sausage with provolone) , huevos gramajo trufados (gramajo-style scrambled eggs with truffle), entraña con provoleta (inside skirt with provolone & chimichurri sauce), v olcan de dulce de leche ( Argentinean take on a molten cake, made with dulce de leche & served with lavender crème anglaise).
Behind the eye catching bar is award-winning Head Bartender, Gaston Fusco. He has created a drinks menu to offer a vast collection of Argentinian wines, including a house red and white. The inventive cocktail list showcases classics with a twist, highlight serves include the Mate & Co ( a take on the G&T using y erba m ate , an iconic tea from Argentina), El Clasico ( Fernet Branca & coke – the Argentinean national drink ) and Gaston’s award-winning mocktail Gaucho Rústico ( created with yerba mate, pink grapefruit, Ginger Ale, fresh mint leaves & spices) which won first place in the Goldberg Cocktail Competition.
On weekends, expect a fully immersive tango experience curated by Enrique Macana himself: live music, performances by Tango Dance World Cup winners and Argentinian folk act (boleadoras, bombos and malombo).
La Casa del Tango will also offer Tango enthusiasts the opportunity to take private and group lessons. There is even an in-house boutique for guests to purchase their own stylish Argentinian dress, from exclusive brands such as Silmolina and Madreselva Zapatos and handmade shoes from Gretaflora.
