Dubai, United Arab Emirates-: Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in the UAE, is celebrating its 27th anniversary from 27 September – 10 October. To thank the community for almost three decades of loyalty, the leading retailer will be surprising 270 customers each day by checking out their shopping carts free of charge alongside its other outstanding offers, promotions and rewards.
Shopping carts will be chosen over the course of 14 days, with no limit on the winning transactions in store and online. The lucky recipients will be chosen randomly by cashier servers across all hypermarkets and supermarkets in the UAE, with online winners receiving a voucher to the same value.
Christophe Orcet, Head of Commercial and Operations of Carrefour UAE at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said: “We have experienced phenomenal growth since our introduction to the region in 1995 and converted millions of shoppers into loyal, satisfied customers. Carrefour is now not only called upon for great service and value but looked upon as an integral member of the community. This anniversary is an opportunity to thank and give back to our UAE family, making 270 wishes come true every day during the campaign.”
Carrefour has also announced it is extending incredible discounts of up to 60 per cent off across numerous categories – from food and beverages to personal care, homeware, and electronics – to help customers with all their daily needs.
Having opened its first store in City Centre Deira in 1995, the brand’s rich history in the UAE has seen many firsts and broken many records in retail; opening the largest hypermarket in the Middle East in 2005, introducing the UAE’s first sustainable shopping bag in 2007, unveiling the world’s first sail-thru supermarket in 2018, deploying Tally Robot in 2019, launching contactless shopping via Carrefour City+ in 2021 and creating its first BIO concept in 2022.
