RIYADH — In implementation of directives of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, a department for maritime activities, affiliated to the General Directorate of Border Guards, was recently created to achieve the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and enhance the fundamentals of tourism in the country, it was reported here Wednesday.
The new department was incepted in cooperation with the relevant authorities to license and regulate marine activities, including marine sports, diving, picnic and entertainment, marine tourism. It also aims at authoring and developing safety and security plans and enhancing awareness of maritime safety.
The Maritime Activities Department is set to oversee the Red Sea Operations Room in Jeddah, which was recently created with the participation of 12 ministries and agencies to facilitate and regulate procedures for yachts entry, through the local contact number 1980, and external number +9661980, or via e-mail maritime_activities@moi.gov.sa. — SPA
