DS Automobiles Heads For The Berlin E-Prix With Confidence And Motivation!

  •  The German capital of Berlin will host the first European E-Prix of the FIA Formula E World Championship Season 9 this weekend
  • DS PENSKE is currently fourth in the teams’ championship, just one point off the provisional podium
  • Jean-Eric Vergne, the only two-time Formula E champion, and Stoffel Vandoorne – the reigning world champion – are currently fourth and 11th respectively in the drivers’ championship

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will return to familiar territory from April 22-23 for an eagerly-awaited double-header at the well-known Berlin-Tempelhof circuit in the German capital of Berlin. Located at the historic Tempelhof airport, the 2.3-kilometre track has welcomed the all-electric single-seater series since 2015, and it features one of the most abrasive surfaces on the calendar. Heading into rounds seven and eight of Season 9, the 11 teams on the grid can expect to have to manage tyre wear and energy consumption carefully.

After taking home some precious points with Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne in Sao Paulo, DS Automobiles and its partner PENSKE AUTOSPORT approach the two races in Berlin with plenty of confidence and motivation. DS PENSKE is currently fourth in the teams’ classification – just one point off the provisional podium – and remains one of the favourites in the title race. When it comes to the drivers’ classification, JEV is currently fourth: just one point behind third place and only two points behind second.

Driving the DS E-TENSE FE23, the two world champions have the firm aim to fly the flag high for DS Automobiles, which is still the most successful manufacturer in Formula E.

 Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance director:

“We arrive in Berlin after quite a long break that allowed us to work on car development, both on track and in the simulator. Tempelhof is a circuit that we know well and know how to manage. It’s also a track where our drivers have already won! This is an important weekend for us as we will have the opportunity to score lots of points and make up some ground on the championship leaders. Today, we’re operating with maximum focus – as the whole squad has been doing since the very start of the season. Our recipe has always been the same: hard work combined with the talent of our team and drivers.”

Key figures since DS Automobiles entered Formula E:

  • 95 races
  • 4 championship titles
  • 16 victories
  • 46 podiums
  • 22 pole positions
