Egypt to Celebrate Rich National Heritage with The Pharaohs Golden Parade

Cairo-Egypt:– Egyptian capital Cairo is gearing up for a first-of-its-kind “The Pharaohs Golden Parade” to transfer the ancient Egyptian royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to their final destination at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC).

Set to take place at 6pm on April 3, 2021, the parade will feature 22 mummies, 18 kings and four queens, dating back to the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th Dynasties. Among the famous mummies are King Sequenenre, who began the liberation war against the Hyksos; queen Hatshepsut, the owner of the magnificent temple of Deir Al-Bahari on Luxor’s West Bank; and King Ramesses II, the great pharaoh of the New Kingdom.

The parade of mummies will then travel from the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat against the backdrop of magnificent fireworks and to the tune of honorary salvos. A cavalcade will accompany the royalties. On the sidelines of the parade, the viewers will get to enjoy a packed schedule of festivities.

Two hundred media outlets from around the world, will cover the event live.

Once they arrive at NMEC, the royal mummies will be subjected to restoration in the state-of-the-art laboratory for almost 15 days in order to be prepared for installation inside its new showcases at the Royal Mummies Hall, decorated to look like the “Valley of the Kings”, the area that houses their original tombs.

The process of moving the royal mummies will comply with strict safety and security standards for the transport of artifacts. The mummies are very well maintained and placed in state-of-the-art sterile cases inside special boxes to guarantee their immaculate preservation and loaded on carriages that have been designed specifically for the event.
