Nasser Al Shareef has been with IHG Hotels & Resorts for 15 years
Nasser Al Shareef has been promoted to general manager of Holiday Inn Makkah Al Aziziah after serving as its resident manager for two years.
Announced by IHG Hotels & Resorts managing director for KSA and Bahrain, Bastien Blanc, the MD commended Shareef’s performance throughout the pandemic. “Mohammad Abuharba [regional general manager] and I are humbled by the commitment and drive you have displayed throughout the crisis,” he said.
He further explained IHG’s responsibility in nurturing the Kingdom’s local talent: “As more companies in Saudi Arabia embrace localisation of talent, there needs to be a commitment that young Saudis are being moved up the organisation at a rapid pace, opening opportunities to grow and taking on senior roles while developing their business acumen and necessary leadership competencies.
“At IHG Hotels & Resorts we focus on leadership programs, and constant on-the-ground development, which provides a longer-term approach for talents that want to be part of the Saudi Vision 2030 opportunities, supporting their long-term success.”
Recently, IHG has signed a number of Holiday Inn properties in the Kingdom, saying the country has a “continued need for midscale hotel accommodation.”
In Riyadh, there are four Holiday Inn hotels, including a fifth – Holiday Inn Riyadh Al Malaz – signed at the Saudi Arabia Hospitality Investment Conference (SHIC) 2020.
