United Arab Emirates, Dubai-: Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, the vibrant art hub and incubator of creative talent, announces its fourth Artist in Residency Programme, inviting guests and visitors to discover the conception of life in its purest form through a dynamic showcase by Armenian born Sarko Meené.

Influenced by her 16-year career as a professional tennis player, Sarko Meené is fundamentally driven, competitive and intellectually inspired by freedom as demonstrated through her works. Meené started her residency at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel on 1st October 2022, with her exhibition titled “Serendipity” set to welcome visitors from are 10th December to 31st December 2022. Her art will further complement the hotel’s contemporary appeal, underscored by beautifully designed interiors featuring rich artworks, culturally inspired carpet designs, and rich colour palettes across its guest rooms and public spaces.

Seth Benzel, Artist in Residence Programme Director, commented: “We are excited to welcome the artist Sarko Meené to our artist in residency programme, and as its Director, I am delighted that we can attract and support diverse contemporary talent, which is the main objective and mission of our programme.” He added: “Meené is like a vessel, from which all things creative and pure can flow.  This notion is linked with Dubai’s history and present as it is now a vital trade route and main business hub around in the world.  The artist’s works have no limitations as she constantly finds new grounds and evolves through the inspiration she gains during her travels. It will be exciting to see where this inspiration takes her for the upcoming exhibition.”

Sarko Meené added: “I always aim to demonstrate joy and portray the different conceptions of life as a child, reflecting on the innocence and happiness the world has to offer. Through my continuous travels, I continue to learn new conceptions which are all reflected through my works. Taking part in Jumeirah Creekside’s Artist in Residence Programme, I look forward to translating my new conceptions from my stay in the emirate and showcasing it at the Hotel’s beautiful spaces.”

Launched in April last year, the Artist in Residency programme is an ongoing initiative from Jumeirah Creekside Hotel. Directed by Artist and Curator Seth Benzel, it was set up to support international and regional artists in advancing their skills through dedicated spaces, enhanced visibility and endorsement, while providing an inspirational setting from which to create unique pieces of art and enjoy living in one of the most diverse cities in the world.

The urban hotel is home to one of the city’s largest art collections. With the aim of connecting guests to the culture and heritage of their surroundings, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel shines a spotlight on the region’s vibrant art scene, housing 482 specially commissioned pieces by 51 artists with roots from across the Middle East. Building on its reputation as an art hub, the hotel further features some of the world’s most celebrated design houses across its grounds, including custom-made furniture by Sawaya Moroni, Walter Knoll, Poltrona Frau, BnB Italia, Frag, Se London, Matteograssi and De Sede. Most impressively, Tom Price, an internationally recognised creator renowned for his sculptural works, was commissioned to create 88 red Meltdown Bowls, which are dotted across the hotel as part of a limited-edition collection.

Guests can view Sarko Meené’s artworks when her exhibition launches on 10th December.
