New Look Overwater Spa and Immune Boosting Treatments at Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas

Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas situated within the UNESCO Biosphere of the Baa Atoll, has renovated its overwater spa and wellness centre with refurbished treatment rooms, new saunas, hot and cold plunge pools and a restyled overwater relaxation area.  The resort has also built on the success of its Cocoon Medi-spa by extending the range of immune boosting treatments and introducing a resident naturopath and nutritionist.

In addition, with wellness and well-being taking on an even bigger focus for guests, the resort’s Scottish General Manager Ross Sanders is offering to take guests on a 5km run or a 1.5km reef swim around the island. Spurred on by his goal of competing in an Ironman, he runs or swims around the island six days a week and is inviting guests to accompany him – presenting them with a photograph and certificate at the finish.

All six treatment rooms in the Anantara Spa have been given a new brighter look in pure white, offset by a showpiece carbon-black bathtub or a traditional Thai massage bed. The dry heat of the new Finnish-style sauna (60 degrees Centigrade) works to relieve anxiety, whilst the infrared sauna (55 degrees Centigrade) detoxifies the body and soothes aches and pains. The outdoor hot plunge pool (25 to 35 degrees Centigrade) and cold plunge pool (10 to 15 degrees Centigrade) aid in improving circulation, rejuvenating the skin, promoting relaxation and enhancing muscle recovery.

The range of vitamin IV treatments have been expanded to include a mixture of immune boosting vitamins and minerals including Glutathione to give your body the ultimate natural protective boost, an infusion to reboot your system after a flight and an anti-ageing infusion to bring back youthful skin, which includes Alpha-Lipoic Acid with collagen and vitamin C.

Kelly Manning, from the UK, is the resort’s new resident nutritionist.  She offers 90-minute nutrition and lifestyle consultations that include epigenetic testing.  The epigenetic hair test through a bio profiler, provides information about your body’s level of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, fatty acids, antioxidants and contaminants.  The test shows which nutritional and environmental factors are impacting your body’s cells and gives you lifestyle and diet recommendations to optimise your health.

Kelly’s naturopathic nutrition consultation addresses the overall nutrient value of your daily diet to ensure optimal wellbeing and sustained health. The naturopathic lifestyle consultation helps you to recognise deep physiological and psychological imbalances that can occur from the daily stresses of life and the environment we surround ourselves with. Guests receive a detailed report highlighting impacts caused by environmental toxins, electro-magnetic impacts, diet, lifestyle and underlying food stressors, together with a 90-day nutritional food plan and further advice on optimising their wellbeing.

For guests seeking other ways of keeping fit, the resort also offers the only Muay Thai boxing ring in the Maldives with one-on-one boxing lessons with their Muay Thai boxing expert Jack, who has 9 years of professional training in Muay Thai boxing in Thailand under his belt.  Guests can also perfect their play with the resort’s tennis pro Ahmed Afsar who was coached under the guidance of Lleyton Hewitt and is a two-time National Tournament champion.

For those looking to detox, boost their energy or improve their mental health, there are three to five-day Ayurvedic retreats as well as stand up paddle board yoga and aerial yoga.  Anantara Kihavah Villas offers the only over water aerial yoga experience in the Maldives and it is a liberating and challenging way to vary your yoga practice.

Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas has eighty private pool villas and residences, a Sky Observatory and six restaurants and bars including  SEA, the world’s first underwater restaurant and wine cellar.  The coral house reef only seconds away from the beach is home to hundreds of species of tropical fish, hawksbill turtles, reef sharks and eagle rays.

Villas start at USD 1,550 per night with breakfast.
