Following a search for female artists to mark International Women’s Day, Radisson RED Hotel launches two new art exhibitions this summer.
As part of this year’s International Women’s Day this March, Radisson RED put a call out for females rocking in art, music and fashion industries. The hotel, which opened in February last year, already has a focus on local art. The walls are covered in bespoke designed wallpaper from locally based artists, including that of Maria Iqbal and female led Art Painting Lab. Two superwomen have now been awarded the opportunity to showcase their art at Radisson RED. The first exhibition will take place this June, followed by a month long exhibit in July.
The first exhibition will focus on the work of Ji-Hye, who is a Fine Art and Digital Art degree holder and specializes in linocut art, inspired by the beauty of UAE’s vivid local nature. Ji-Hye’s linocut and other printmaking artworks will be exhibited in the hotel throughout the month of June. Commenting on the competition and exhibition, Ji-Hye said;
I am really excited to be part of the Radisson RED’s IWD event and I am absolutely delighted that my work has been chosen for the exhibition. As a Dubai resident who lives nearby in Silicon Oasis, I think it is great that the hotel is supporting local emerging artists by providing opportunities to showcase their work. I am looking forward to exhibiting my linocut prints, which capture the dramatic scenery and diverse wildlife on our doorstep in Dubai – and hope that hotel’s guests, visitors and staff will enjoy seeing them too.
Cathy Nunez, a Dubai based self-taught artist with years of expertise in caricatures, cartooning, calligraphy, murals, photo manipulation and more, will showcase her work this July. Upon being selected as a winner, Cathy said;
‘’I am thrilled to be chosen by Radisson RED Hotel to exhibit my artwork throughout the month of July. This offers me unparalleled access to market myself as an artist. As an emerging artist, this gives me the chance to share my creativity and build up a unique professional experience in the visual art world. Big thanks to the organizers of this event’’
Stuart Birkwood, Curator aka General Manager at Radisson Red Dubai Silicon Oasis, comments;
“Women of all ages are challenging the odds and achieving greater heights so we here at Radisson RED want to recognize that. Art, Music and Fashion is at the core of our brand, hence we wanted to make this year’s International Women’s Day an inspiRED one by celebrating some of the rock stars in these industries. I am beyond thrilled about the artists chosen and how their work will unfold in our hotel’s lobby, adding their unique vibe. Apart from this being a wonderful opportunity for the artists to showcase their talent, this will also be a great way for our international guests to learn about the beauty & vivid culture of the UAE”
The exhibitions can be viewed free of charge of the ground floor of the art focused hotel from 1st June 2021.
