With the celebrations of the 92nd Saudi National day starting this weekend, the ancient city of AlUla prepares to receive Saudi and international travelers coming to celebrate the long weekend and enjoy, special activities on offer for the significant and historical day.
A prime example of the exciting burgeoning arts and culture experiences on offer across the nation, AlUla has scheduled AZIMUTH on the 22nd and 23rd of September to coincide with the national day. A large number of Saudi artists will be performing at the two-day music and arts event alongside regional and international artists.
Nouf, famous as “Cosmicat”, the electronic music DJ and producer says about this special national day: “The Saudi National Day for me is a celebration of our unity and diversity as Saudis, celebrating all our milestones and achievements from last year and is such a unique day to spread joy and love.”
Cosmicat says that her work is very influenced by Saudi music. She grew up listening to Mohammed Abdu who her parents adored and she in turn fell in love with the legendary Singer’s music and songs. She explains that all young Saudis had a similar childhood journey growing up inspired by and passionate about Saudi music – and now this forms a strong connection with her audiences and they in turn with each other as they evolve their music tastes and enjoy live music performances in the country.
Speaking about her performance at AZIMUTH, Cosmicat is preparing a special set to celebrate this unique day. She attended the 1st edition of AZIMUTH in 2020 as a visitor before the pandemic and now she is extremely excited to return to AZIMUTH but to perform this time and embrace in the joyful vibes of AlUla and the Saudi National day.
Nouf Said: “I remember coming here in the first edition of AZIMUTH and I was astonished by the beauty of the landscape. I am so excited to perform here, everything sounds so healthy and fresh and connected to nature.”
Hassan and Abbas, two young Saudi artists of the famous Saudi DJ act, Dish Dash, say that the Saudi National day is the proudest day of the year for all Saudis, as they celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of the nation, united under one flag.
Speaking about how Saudi traditional music inspires them, Dish Dash said: “Like most artists, the inspiration for our work comes from our surroundings and upbringing, which includes Saudi music of course. A country’s music is a part of our identity and traditions, so we like to show that whenever we can. We also made a few remixes of Saudi patriotic songs.”
For the return of AZIMUTH to the historical city of AlUla, Dish Dash is preparing a very special set for this day which speaks to the team’s pride in the country and their excitement of performing in a magnificent canyon site that has witnessed the history of ancient Arabia. AZIMUTH fans are promised a great time full of high energy, fun, impressive music sets and an unforgettable Saudi National Day.
AZIMUTH is bringing a large list of headliners, local and regional artists and DJ Performers. International list includes Damian Lazarus, DJ Snake, Jason Derulo, Kelis, Majid Jordan and Parov Stelar. Regional and local headliners and artists include DISCO MISR, Dorar, Solskin, Dish Dash, Vinyl Mode, Nomad, KAYAN, Biirdperson, Cosmicat, Anmarz, Baloo and BKR. Guests will also enjoy a vast number of activities including the AZILOOK, where they can paint their faces with the AZIMUTH unique colours and styles, with a number of fashionable merchandise, food and beverage retailers.
AlUla is also bringing traditional festivals to the city on this special occasion. Inspired by the taste of the nation and AlUla, the Old Town will celebrate and welcome the locals and the visitors with many activations including traditional Saudi dancers.
For kids, AlUla Old Town will offer face-painting and Henna painting activities and AlUla will be decorated with flags while visitors and locals will receive traditional National Day gifts to remember the unique day moments in AlUla.
