Riyadh – KSA: The “MS Dossary Game On” tournament, held for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wrapped up both its two qualifiers and national final. The tournament, which drew a large number of electronic game enthusiasts, particularly FIFA fans in the kingdom, ended with the Beasts team coming in first place, the Ms7 students team in second, and the F16 Esports team in third.
The final was attended by none other than international e-football gaming star Musaed Al-Dossary (MsDossary) and the enthusiastic and interactive atmosphere was evident among the eight competing teams. Al-Dossary interacted with the audience by participating in recreational side activities such as the realistic football pavilion, where a small goal was set up inside the hall, full of challenge and the unusual, in addition to electronic games that are designed to entertain the audience.
The Red Bull Mobile Store hosted the qualifiers in two stages: in Khobar on the 25th and 26th of August, and in Riyadh on the 30th and 31st of August. The national final was held at the Red Bull Mobile Store on September 16th.
During the qualifiers, the teams that were to compete in matches were randomly placed according to an elimination system. The winner of two matches out of three advanced to the next stage. Thirty-two teams competed in each qualifier, of which four teams qualified for a total of eight competing in the national final.
One controller, two players!
The tournament, named after Al-Dossary, is styled as two-player team competitions. The idea of the game is based on the principle of two-way alternation within the team, which means that each player must transfer the role to his teammate at designated stations in every match.
As soon as the referee blows the start whistle, a player from each team starts the match, but they must hand over the controller to their teammate as soon as their team scores a goal, if the team receives a red card, and at every halftime; both players are entitled to one free switch during the entire match. And if the two halftimes end in a tie, the roles are also switched, and the golden goal formula is adopted. In the event that extra time doesn’t decide the outcome of the match, penalty kicks come into play, with the teammates alternating after each kick.
