Radisson RED, a colourful and playful hotel with ART, FASHION and MUSIC as a focus, opens a new art expo on November, 16th.
Leena Thawrani is an Indian contemporary artist living in Dubai. Her richly textured, colorful, vibrant paintings evolve from exploration and experimentation. They are inspired by life itself. She is fascinated by the human mind with all its complex mysteries and by the immense beauty of nature. Her works are centered on bringing forth positive and harmonious forces to balance the increasingly frenetic world we are living in. It is her mission to create paintings that offer a moment to pause, inhale and resurface. Having lived in the UAE all her life, her work has glimpses of the Arabian and the Indian cultures, with a focus on inner strength and beauty.
Starting with scribbling and drawing Leena had a dream to become an artist. But it was not really an option in a family with no artistic antecedents. With remaining interest in art after 10-year PR experience Leena finally made up her mind to pursue her dream. She started a formal training at the Lotus Institute of Arts where she obtained her drawing and painting certificate and discovered her passion for art. She then explored art on her own, complemented with advanced art workshops. She started her way into the art world in 2016.
“The creative process for me is purifying, allowing my emotions to flow on the canvas”, says Leena.
For Leena, being an artist is evolving, experimenting, searching and finding her way as she creates. Like Thomas Merton once said, “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
Anna Nikitina, LEAD Marketing + Comms at Radisson Red Dubai Silicon Oasis, comments:
“I’m excited to collaborate with such talented people as Leena and to get to know the story behind her artworks. With Art, Music and Fashion being at the core of Radisson RED we are happy to give local artists the opportunity to showcase their talent.”
The exhibitions can be viewed free of charge of the ground floor of the art focused hotel from 16th November 2021. Radisson RED, an art-minded hotel opened its doors in February last year and has had a keen focus on local art. Bespoke designed wallpapers were created in partnership with locally based artists, including that of Maria Iqbal and female led Art Painting Lab.
