Earth Day 2021
Planting the seed to a brighter future – one coconut sapling at a time.
April 22nd, 2021 marked the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, an international event celebrated around the world to pledge support for environmental protection. This year’s theme for Earth Day is ‘Restore Our Earth’. Celebrating Earth Day serves as a conscious reminder of how fragile our planet is and how vital it is to nurture and protect it.
At Villa Hotels and Resorts, environmental sustainability and caring for the natural environment is priority and we believe raising awareness and educating the younger generations to care for and protect the natural world is the way forward to Restore Our Earth. We recognize the collective responsibility to promote harmony with nature and to focus on making the planet a better place for our children and future generations.
The spirit of Earth day came alive as the Villa Hotels and Resorts team and young guests at Royal Island Resort planted coconut saplings on a natural sand bank located in the UNESCO Biosphere of Baa Atoll, Maldives.
